You can always just chuck stone daggers at people lol.
Kinetic Armor, Sliver armour, armour of earth, stone daggers, obsidian flame, res sig, channeling (Maybe iunno) ,*Optional
I'm actually just throwing stuff out there but i've had fun with throwing stone daggers at people .

Yeah thanks for those guys. I had already read the wiki builds. What I was hoping for was a more general PvE build or just good combinations of 2 or more skills. I have just started a new ele char and wondered what skills to go for as I have never had an ele before and I didn't want to be a pyro as it seems that is what everyone picks.
I will check out your build shade as soon as I get obsidian flame, thanks again.
More ideas welcome!!

Normal PvE:
Ward Against Melee
Ward Against Foes
Draw Conditions
Obsidian Flame
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Sandstorm (Replace if you want.)
Glyph of Sacrifice
Resurrection Chant
Don't play Earth awfully much, so feel free to tweak. May be totally unusable. ^ ^

No eruption in PvE? Blasphemy! Also, are you still sweet on Ward V. Foes? It is a good skill and all, but earthquake or grasping earth will do the same job much more efficiently.

There's my suggestion for a PvE build. Took me 5 minutes to cook it up, so ignore it if you think it doesn't have enough offense
EDIT- Don't take the wiki skilltips too literally, both eruption and churning earth have been buffed since they were last updated

I never saved the build to a template and I wished I had, but I ran an Ele/Me with a shield and +energy sword as a tank.
I believe I had:
Ward Against Melee
Ward Against Elements
Armor of Earth
Aftershock
Tsumei's Crystals
Distortion
Illusionary Weaponry{E}
Res Sig
It worked really well in a group of real people. Able to solo minor to mid-level mobs. Able to solo lower high level individual creatures... if that makes any sense. I think I had one healing skill in there in place of Crystals, but can't think of it for the life of me. Good luck.

Here's what i use...
armor: geomancer's..either the droks kind or insignia
the kind from droks is +15 vs earth, insignia is +10 vs elemental and +10 vs earth. you decide, but i prefer insignia, since all damage is elemental. that's another +20 armor per insignia.
Weapon: galigords' stone staff ftw
although similar to others, stoneflesh helps in the damage department... I personally don't use wards, since most damage is negated by the mantra/stonstriker/stoneflesh combo. I like to use aura of rest. instead, to provide a healing boost, since their isn't a counter for conditions/ hexes on ele/me.
[skill]Aura of Restoration[/skill][skill]Earth Attunement[/skill][skill]Stone Striker[/skill][skill]Mantra of Earth[/skill][skill]Stoneflesh Aura[/skill][skill]Arcane Echo[/skill][skill]Unsteady Ground[/skill][skill]Aftershock[/skill]
Earth: 12 + 1 + 3
Energy Storage: 8 + 1
Inspiration: 10

I usually only use Earth when playing solo, where all of the self defense can be really valuable. In a group, an Earth Elementalist is more questionable since his skills that affect the rest of the team aren't anything special.
If you're set on being a PvE Earth Elementalist, I'd suggest starting with Sandstorm, Eruption, Obsidian Flame, and Ward Against Melee. Ward Against Elements is pretty good too. Mix in a bit of emanagement and a ressig and you have a decent enough build.
For solo farming, start with the Mantra of Earth / Stoneflesh Aura / Stone Striker trio and build from there.
Peace,
-CxE

Earth attunement. ward against melee. ward against foes. sandstorm. consider using arcane echo on it. obsidian flame is good but watch the exhaustion. Unsteady ground is a decent alternative to sandstorm.

Mmhmm. E/Me. Don't notice Res Chant being in the Inspiration line
I'll say no more on that.
On topic. It's really nice to see another ele trying out the earth line. If my opinion it is way underused and so much more useful than fire. Someone mentioned Eruption. If you can buy this skill, stop reading this and go buy it right away! Eruption is a totally awesome skill. Since the small nerf of Sandstorm I'm currently favoring [wiki]Unsteady Ground[/wiki]. It costs less than Sandstorm, and has a faster recharge, it is also great to cast on warriors as they will usually be attacking like crazy and it will knock them down ^^.
That being said, I still take Sandstorm occaisionally, but it would be fair to say Unsteady Ground is my current favourite.
Dragon's Stomp/Earthquake is an awesome skill. 15 second recharge. (yes, it causes exhaustion but on an ele a little exhaustion is no problem at all).
I personally don't use mesmer skills with my earth build but your best bet would be to take a look at the inspiration line as these can also serve as added energy management. Mantra of Earth + Stone Striker can be great and gives you damage reduction, although it is prone to areas of high enchantment stripping. Interrupts (depending on your reflexes ) such as Power Drain can be useful since you gain energy on interrupt.
My Ele-only build looks like this:
[skill]Earth Attunement[/skill][skill]Ward Against Elements[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Unsteady Ground[/skill][skill]Ebon Hawk[/skill][skill]Churning Earth[/skill][skill]Dragon's Stomp[/skill][skill]Eruption[/skill]
-I usually replace the ward for the best ward for the situation. Eg. if there's a lot of melee I'll take Ward Against Melee, for the amount of Knock-downs in the Southern Shiverpeaks I'll take Ward of Stability.
-I'll switch Churning Earth for Glowstone on occaision...but more often than not I will use Churning Earth.
-If it's likely the enemies will want to bash me around a lot (or I'm playing with humans who never stand in wards) I'll take Stoneflesh Aura instead of a ward. This also acts as a cover enchantment for Earth Attunement.

I've been playing with unsteady ground for a bit, and even with the reduced recharge and nice side effect, I just don't feel it has the same value as even a post-nerf sandstorm. Eruption is more than enough to incapacitate physicals.
The sandstorm + earthquake combo, with an eruption or churning earth combo is still pretty nuts, although the recharge is very, very painful. I really don't get why all the nifty ticking AoEs have stupid recharges, it makes them very difficult to use.

Thanks for all the great ideas everyone. I love the stonestriker/mantra of earth/ stoneskin aura combo they seem made for each other. Alas I don't have prophecies so I cannot get eruption, I'll just have to make do with dragon stomp and churning earth or sandstorm.
I decided to go earth ele because not many other people seemed to do it. It is often thought of as the weak element but as you guys have shown there are some really good skills and builds for geomancers if they are used in the right way.
So beware everyone because death is coming from beneath your feet!!!

My usual Earth build goes generally like this:
[skill]Elemental Attunement[/skill][skill]Kinetic Armor[/skill][skill]Armor of Earth[/skill][skill]Teinai's Crystals[/skill][skill]Crystal Wave[/skill][skill]Whirlwind[/skill][skill]Aftershock[/skill][skill]Earth Attunement[/skill]
Suffers in more high enchant stripping areas but works wonders everywhere else . Strap on the enchants, run in and AoE those Critters with great effect. Works especially well in the Crystal Dessert against all those high Armor foes.

This is the build I take in with me to Tombs. While Tombs isn't profitable anymore it's still my favorite content to play in the game.
[skill]Stone Daggers[/skill][skill]Obsidian Flame[/skill][skill]Sandstorm[/skill][skill]Ward Against Melee[/skill][skill]Armor Of Earth[/skill][skill]Stone Striker[/skill][skill]Mantra Of Earth[/skill][skill]Earth Attunement[/skill]
With this I usually play the tank for the group, and fill the group up with just a bunch of Ele's and two Monks, occasionally throwing a SS or something in.
[skill]Stoneflesh Aura[/skill] may do better for myself vs. the [skill]Ward Against Melee[/skill], but there are times where aggro gets broken and the Ward is nice to have for the party then, not to mention the times when a [skill]Rend Enchantments[/skill] catches you (/eyetwitch). But for other areas, I'd probably use Stoneflesh and free up the Striker/Mantra slots for some damage and/or Aura.
